Between January 18, 2022 and January 31, 2022; we saw 12 companies in the Indian EdTech space getting funded or acquired. Companies that got funded came from diverse segments such as K-12, Test Prep, Upskilling / Reskilling and Higher Education.
Who Got a Slice?
- Kula (Undisclosed, $2.7 Million): Recruitment automation platform Kula announced that the company raised $2.7 million in funding from Venture Highway, Together Fund, and Global Founders Capital
- Edunify (M&A, Undisclosed): Started in 2018, Edunify runs a pan-India school discovery platform with 1.2 lakh schools in 725 cities, helping around 1.5 lakh parents in their admissions journey since its inception and empowered 100+ schools in seven cities with their admission and fee management services. Fyp, a neobank for teenagers, has acquired edtech startup Edunify as part of its expansion plans.
- CollegeShala (M&A, Undisclosed): Founded in 2020 by Upamanyu Chatterjee, Shouradeep Chatterjee and Mohamed Fazal Mustafa, CollegeShala is a community-driven edtech startup that caters to students of academic degree courses. Odisha-based edtech startup LectureNotes has acquired Kolkata-based CollegeShala for an undisclosed amount.
- Super Scholar (Undisclosed, $0.4 Million): The startup was founded in 2019 by Rohan Lodha and Priyes Bamne to make online courses affordable to every student with scholarships and grants. It has more than 16,000 users presently and aims to reach one million users by the end of 2022. The Mumbai based scholarship and grants firm raised $0.4 million in an undisclosed round led by MAGIC Fund, 2am VC, Astir VC and JITO Angel Network
- Klassroom Edutech (Pre-Series A2, $0.18 Million): Founded in 2016, Mumbai-based Klassroom Edutech solves problems such as affordability, accessibility, accountability, and flexibility in the education ecosystem through live lectures on its website and application. The startup works on a hybrid model, and on-the-ground partner network of over 160 local coaching centres. The Mumbai based live lectures platform raised $0.18 million in Pre Serie A2 round led by ah! Ventures
- ixamBee (Undisclosed, Undisclosed): ixamBee was founded by Chandraprakash Joshi, Arunima Sinha and Sandeep Singh. It is an online learning platform that offers aspirants to prepare for jobs-related competitive exams. The Noida based job related competitive exam platform raised an undisclosed amount in debt round led by Caspian Debt
- Wise (Undisclosed, $5 Million): Launched in August 2020 by Bilal Abidi and Mubeen Masudi, Wise allows educators to set up their online classrooms easily.The platform has amassed over 2 million users with over 700k monthly active users. The Bangalore based education infrastructure company, raised $5 million in an undisclosed round led by James Beshara
- iMocha(Series A, $14 Million): Founded in 2015 by Amit Mishra and Sujit Karpe, iMocha (earlier Interview Mocha) helps talent acquisition and management teams to assess individual skill proficiency and conduct job-role based assessments for recruitment and learning. The Pune-headquartered digital skills assessment platform iMocha today raised $14 million in a Series A round led by Eight Roads Ventures
- Growth School (Seed, $5 Million): Founded in 2020 as a bootstrapped company, Growth School partners with experts to create high-impact cohort-based programs on personal and professional growth for learners. The startup’s programmes are curated to teach skills that are relevant on the job in a short period of time so students are employable immediately. The Mumbai based upskilling platform raised $5 million in Seed round led by Sequoia Capital and Owl Ventures
- Ekank Technologies (Undisclosed, $1 Million): New Delhi based vernacular storytelling platform raises $1 million in an undisclosed round led by 9Unicorns, Venture Catalysts, Titan Capital
- DUX Education (Seed, Undisclosed): Dux Education, an education technology company that is making afterschool tuitions online, accessible, and affordable has secured seed funding from Malpani Ventures
- MyClassCampus (M&A, Undisclosed): Lightspeed Venture Partners-backed edtech platform Teachmint, has bought MyClassCampus, an educational enterprise resource planning software, which enables campuses with end-to-end digitisation of their operations, management and communication
Globally, My First Five Years (Early Education), Cialfo (Career Guidance), FourthRev (Upskilling) and Ascend Now (Tutoring) raised capital.
